How we ranked this

Ranked by average US viewers, the standard Nielsen measure of how many people watched the average minute of the game. Figures cover every platform Nielsen measured for each game, including English- and Spanish-language TV and streaming where applicable. Super Bowl LX (2026) uses Nielsen's final Big Data + Panel figure of 125.6 million, which was revised up from a preliminary 124.9 million after a data provider's collection error. The other nine figures come from FOX Sports' compilation of Nielsen totals. Nielsen changed its method before Super Bowl LX, so the 2026 figure is not a strict like-for-like comparison with earlier games. Super Bowl LVI (2022) is not included. Nielsen measured it at 99.2 million, and NBC's 112.3 million total added the network's own streaming data, which Nielsen did not measure. Some references give slightly lower TV-only figures for older games (for example 114.4 million for Super Bowl XLIX), so single-network totals can differ from the numbers used here.

FAQ

What is the most-watched Super Bowl ever?

Super Bowl LIX, the Eagles' 40-22 win over the Chiefs on 9 February 2025. It averaged 127.7 million US viewers across FOX, FOX Deportes, Telemundo, Tubi and NFL digital platforms.

How many people watched Super Bowl LX in 2026?

Nielsen's final figure is 125.6 million average viewers across NBC, Peacock, Telemundo, NBC Sports Digital and NFL+. That makes it the second most-watched Super Bowl. Nielsen first reported a lower preliminary figure and raised it after finding that a Big Data provider had not collected data correctly on game day.

Why do different sources give different numbers for the same Super Bowl?

Some figures count only the main broadcast network. Others add Spanish-language TV, streaming apps and out-of-home viewing. Nielsen also changed its method in September 2025. This list uses totals for every platform Nielsen measured, so some older games show slightly higher numbers here than in TV-only tables.

Why is Super Bowl LVI (2022) not on the list?

Nielsen measured Super Bowl LVI at about 99.2 million viewers. NBC reported 112.3 million by adding its own streaming data, which Nielsen did not measure. This list uses only Nielsen-measured figures, so LVI falls outside the top ten.
