Ranked by 2024 production of the FAOSTAT item 'Potatoes' (Production: Crops and livestock products, element Production, tonnes), from the FAOSTAT bulk download (Production_Crops_Livestock, release of 23 December 2025). 2024 is the latest year in that release. One source, one year: every top-ten value is a 2024 figure. 'China' is mainland China; FAO's 'China' aggregate (which adds Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao) and regional and world totals are excluded. FAOSTAT flags Ukraine's 2024 figure as estimated and the 2024 figures for mainland China, Russia and Egypt as imputed; mainland China's 2023 figure is estimated and Russia's 2023 figure imputed. Fractional FAO values are rounded to whole tonnes. There are no ties; 11th place is Turkey at 6,900,000 tonnes, followed by Peru (6,579,754 tonnes) and Canada (6,511,540 tonnes). The 2023 output and change columns come from the same dataset; percentage changes are our calculation, rounded to one decimal place. Sweet potatoes are a separate FAO item and are not included.
